Post’s honor guard one of few in state

American Legion Post 157 honor guard showed Friday night why it has received national certification and is one of only five posts in the state to receive the award.

Members of the honor guard presented the colors at Friday night’s homecoming football game between Lake Roosevelt and Manson, and regularly presents colors at other types of local events.

The honor guard, made up of members of the various service branches, has helped bring the post back from near extinction. A few years ago the post was almost abandoned for lack of participation.

The post members who make up the honor guard and have participated in getting national certification are:

Chris Abel (Navy); Ben Alling (Army); Jerry Beierman (Navy); Rich Black (Navy); Steve Clements (Army); Cindy Jayne, in-coming Post Commander (Navy); Glennis Decloedt (Army); Ted Dittmer (Air Force); Monty Fields (Air Force); Don Fisher (Navy); Lyle Floyd (Army); John Graham (Army)l Franklin “Chuck” Henspeter, Post Commander (Navy); Arnie Holt (Army); Larry Horner (Army); Richard McGuire (Navy); Shawn Neider (Army); Ronald Richards (Navy); David Ristrom (Navy); Jay Worden (Coast Guard); James White (Air Force); Pat Zlateff (Army); Sara Zlateff (Army); Bruce “Bugler” Butler (Navy) and Greg Behrens (Army).
