Raider cross country ran into the toughest test of the early season last Saturday at the Runners Soul Invite in the Spokane Valley. Over 40 schools from Eastern Washington and North Idaho ran in the race. Head Coach Gary Darnold said, “We ran up against the toughest competition and biggest schools of the season and all of the runners stepped up and competed hard.” Results are not yet available from athletic.net so times for the runners will not be available for publication.
Raymond Yazzie lead the Raider boys at Runners Soul, Alexia Hanway lead the Raider girls in her first race of the season. Coach Darnold said all the runners are improving and look to continue to improve for the next race. This week the Raiders do not have a race and will use the practice time to prep for Can Am race on October 5, at Kettle Falls.
Can Am will feature 20 schools from B, 1A, and 2A schools from across Eastern Washington. Many of the top 10 teams will be there, like the Oroville girls, Liberty Bell boys, and St. George’s.
