Parents invited too
Students will get a better understanding of the effects of bullying, acts of violence and negativity when all three district schools hear presentations of “Rachel’s Challenge” next week.
Rachel’s Challenge is based on the life and writings of Rachel Joy Scott, the first victim of the Columbine School shootings in 1999.
Center School students will walk to Grand Coulee Dam Middle School for a 9 a.m. presentation, Wednesday, Sept. 12. The middle school program will begin at 10:05 a.m. and the high school at 12:35 p.m.
A special evening presentation for parents and families is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Lake Roosevelt High School.
Visitors are welcome at any of the three times, district officials stated.
An official said that Nespelem students have been invited to attend.
The presentations are having an impact on such things as bullying, student isolation, teen suicide, discrimination, school violence and increased disciplinary action, officials who have used the program stated.
The challenge shows how acts of kindness have a very positive effect on student’s lives and activities.
