A Grand Coulee woman was struck by a truck Friday while walking on Alcan Road and flown by helicopter to Spokane for treatment, but may face drug charges when she returns.

The truck was driven by Wayne Fowler, 58, who said that Angelette Joy Obendorf, 33, was talking on a cell phone and just stepped in front of his vehicle on the “s curves” on Alcan Road.

Fowler loaded Obendorf into his vehicle and took her to Coulee Medical Center’s emergency room, where she resisted treatment and hospital authorities contacted the police.

While placing Obendorf into a hospital gown, medical staff found three baggies with drugs taped to her chest a police report stated.

Police took the drugs, which tested positive as methamphetamines, into evidence and are requesting that the county prosecutor file charges of possession of a controlled substance against Obendorf.

Fowler showed police a small dent in the hood of his vehicle where he struck the woman.

Police stated that Obendorf suffered possible head and other injuries. She will be charged later, police stated.
