Grand Coulee Police

7/30 - USBR’s Plant Protection requested that police use their explosives-detecting dog to aid in the search of a Canadian truck making a delivery. Nothing was found.

7/31 - Police responded to an incident in which a 2-year-old child had suffered a broken wrist. Police were called by an emergency room doctor who said the break would not occur from a fall by a 2-year-old. Child Protective Services was called after interviews of the two adults.

- A woman who lives on West Grand Avenue in Electric City said she saw a man walking around barefooted carrying a grey bag and a rifle. Police were unable to find him.

8/1 - A man living on Pearl Avenue in Electric City was stopped because the officer knew that the man’s license was suspended. He was cited, the car towed.

8/2 - Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a W. Grand Avenue residence. Officers couldn’t find anyone at the residence.

8/3 - A man wearing glasses without lenses skipped out at Flo’s Cafe without paying his $8 bill. Police looked for the offender but couldn’t find him.

- A Moses Lake man who was asked if he knew why the officer had stopped him replied, “Because you don’t have anything else to do.” He was going 51 mph in a 35 mph zone. He was cited for not having insurance and warned on the speeding.

- An Elmer City man who shopped at Safeway leaving his dog in the car during the current heat spell was confronted by an officer. He said he would exercise more caution when taking his dog with him during hot weather.

- An Omak Child Protective Services agent requested assistance in gaining entry to a home on Weil Place. He was let into the residence.

- Police checked on a report of a vehicle prowl on Washington Place in Electric City, where an owner of a pontoon boat told police someone had taken two batteries sometime after July 30. There are no suspects.

- An officer checked on a black Labrador type dog that was in a truck while its owner was in Pepper Jack’s. While the officer was assisting the dog, the owner came out and was told that the dog shouldn’t be shut up in a vehicle without water when it was hot outside and that the heat was high inside the vehicle.

- The driver of an SUV struck a motorcycle at Four Corners, causing injuries to the motorcycle driver that consisted of nine broken ribs, a fractured scapula, abrasions and other injuries. He was taken to Coulee Medical Center for treatment and the SUV driver was cited for failing to yield.

8/3 - An officer served a temporary protection order on a man in Electric City who lives on Goodfellow Drive. After the man got some personal items from the residence, he left the area.

8/4 - Police observed a man driving who was known to have a suspended license and cited him. The vehicle was turned over to a licensed driver.

- A woman was stopped on Spokane Way for not wearing her seatbelt. She was cited when she was unable to furnish an insurance card.

- A woman driving near Federal Way was cited for not having insurance but lucked out and got warnings for using her cell phone while driving, not wearing her seatbelt, having expired tabs and not having her driver’s license with her.

8/5 - A caller on Burdin Boulevard advised police that a woman was down on the sidewalk. Police found an intoxicated woman who was able to get up and go home.

- Police were advised that a man at Coulee Boulevard East was trying to give his daughter away. The man who was known to police said that he was only trying to get a ride for his daughter to her mother’s house. The man was advised that it wasn’t a good idea for his daughter to get a ride from strangers and the officer gave the man and girl a ride to her mother’s house.

- A man was stopped on SR-174 for going 51 mph in a 35 mph zone. He was warned on the speeding and cited for having expired license tabs.

- Police were called to the top of Grand Coulee Dam where three suspects had gone past the sign “Government Employees Only” and were looking over the side. They were asked to leave and did so.

- A report of two brothers fighting in Delano attracted the attention of an officer who responded on behalf of Grant County Sheriff’s office. One of the brothers had a protection order against him to bar him from the residence where he was located. He was placed in the back of a patrol car and then turned over to a Grant County officer.

- Police checked on an intoxicated man in the roadway on Martin Road. The officer ordered the man to get off the road, which he did.
