Chamber to Meet at Sunbanks

Grand Coulee Chamber will meet Thursday, July 26,at noon at Sunbanks Resort on the patio. Call your order ahead 633-3786. Come and share any new news you have or events that are coming up.

Grant County Fire District 14 to Meet

Grant County Fire District 14 will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday, July 30, at 7 p.m. at the Electric City Fire Station.

Grant County Port Dist. 7 to Meet

Grant County Port District 7 will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, July 26, at 5 p.m. at the Grand Coulee Dam Airport office.

Okanogan County Community

Action Council to Meet

The Okanogan County Community Action Council Board of Directors will hold their regular board meeting on Wednesday, July 25, at 5:15 p.m. at Community Action, 424 S. 2nd, Okanogan. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

OCCAC is a community building organization that works with community members of all groups to raise the poor out of poverty, tofeed the hungry, to provide affordable housing for all, to empower community members through education and in the process to return prosperity and hope for the future to the county.

Low-Stress Cattle Handling Seminar Aug. 2

Washington State University Extension would like to invite young beef cattle producers between the age of 8 and 21, their parents, employers, leaders, and/or advisors to attend the Low-Stress Cattle Handling Seminar:  For Young Beef Cattle Producers at Easterday Ranchesí North Feedlot in Eltopia, Wash ., on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  The seminar will feature nationally recognized low-stress cattle handling expert Dr. Tom Noffsinger, D.V.M, from Benkelman, Neb.  Dr. Noffsinger operates a successful veterinary practice and low-stress cattle handling consulting business.  The seminar will include presentations and hands-on demonstrations on low-stress cattle handling concepts as an important aspect of managing cattle care and human safety.  More information is available at http://www.animalag.wsu.edu under “Upcoming Events”.  There is no registration fee to attend this event, however individuals need to send or email registration information by July 27 to guarantee space and a light dinner will be provided.

TOPS Meetings

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter meets on Tuesdays at 9:15 a.m. at Grand Coulee Senior Center prior to the exercise group gathering at 10 a.m. Come and join for the health of it.

TOPS#WA1490, Coulee Dam meets on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m ., meeting following weigh in downstairs in the ground level fellowship hall in the Coulee Dam Community Presbyterian Church, 509 Central Ave ., across from the Colville Tribal Museum. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a non-profit weight loss organization.

Eagles #2577 Meetings

The Eagles #2577 Aerie meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. The next meeting is Tuesday, Aug.14 at 7 p.m. The Auxiliary meets the first and third Tuesday of every month. Next meeting is scheduled for August 7.

Free Pinochile at the Seniors

Free pinochle is offered at the Grand Coulee Senior Center Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning at 1 p.m.

Them Dam Writers Meet

Them Dam Writers meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The meetings are held from 1-3:30 p.m. in the art room at the senior center. The next meeting will be August 1.

Care and Share Food Bank Open

The food bank at the Church of the Nazarene normal operating hours are Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m. It is located at the Church of Nazarene, hwy 174, Grand Coulee. The bank still can use clean plastic grocery bags.

Library has Friday Story Time

The Grand Coulee Library Story time is every Friday at 10:30 a.m. Regular library hours are Mondays and Thursdays 12:30 - 5:30 p.m .; Tuesdays 12:30 - 7:30 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. For information concerning library programs or services call 633-0972.

Local AA Meetings

Confused in the Coulee AA meetings are held on Mondays at 7 p.m ., Friday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m.. at the Vets Center in Electric City. Call Paul 633-3377 days or 633-3345 evenings. New Hope Group meetings are held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Vets Center. For more information call John 633-2448. These are open, non-smoking and handicap accessible.

In Nespelem the group Bound and Determined holds its meetings Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the Catholic Church. Contact Myrna 634-4921 for more information there.

Seniors Have Wheelchairs, Crutches Available

Through the Grand Coulee Dam Senior Center a program is available to members and other persons who for a short time need a wheel chair, walkers, crutches, canes, bath stools and other items of this type.

For those who have any of the above items that are from the center and no longer used please return. If you have any of the above items in good condition and would like to donate them to the center, it would be extremely appreciated. For those who cannot deliver, pickup is available. Call 633-2321 for more information.
