With “We Serve” still its motto, the Grand Coulee Dam Lions Club club starting its 78th year with new challenges and new ideas.

Rod Loch, of Coulee Dam has taken over the reins of the club this year, with John Nordine of Electric City as vice-president. They have accepted the challenge to lead this club into the future.

Membership has been greatly reduced the past couple years for several reasons, and are looking forward to increasing the membership.

The club has looked closely at projects of years past and have placed several on hold until it has the membership to carry out the projects in the fashion they should be done. We all look forward to working with projects that benefit the local community and still supporting Lions International.

The Columbia Art Club will co-sponsor the annual “Lions Peace Poster Contest” this fall. Children of ages 11-13 as of Nov. 15, 2012, are eligible to compete and could win $5,000 and a trip to the United Nations. Watch for details in The Star and posters around the community. For more information, send your name and a contact address or email to PO Box 777, Grand Coulee, WA.

Join us the first and third Tuesdays of the month at the Siam Palace at 7 p.m. Join us and serve this great community, Grand Coulee Dam Area.
