School board approves hirings

The Grand Coulee Dam School District board approved several hires, one retirement, and a one-year leave of absence at its last meeting.

Retiring is Linda Peterson as Center School librarian. Teresa Miley, para-educator, was granted a one-year leave of absence.

Hired were Shannon Rounds, Title 7 para-professional at Center School; Raehanne Piturachsatit, assistant girls’ volleyball coach at Lake Roosevelt; Holly Weston, district assessment coordinator; Joe Tynan, assistant football coach; and Kyle Desautel, head boys’ basketball coach at Lake Roosevelt.

Also, the board approved a number of supplemental contracts:

Joette Barry, S.A.F.T.Y.E./S.A.D.D. club advisor ($559); Shelly Black, 12th grade advisor ($559); Karyn Byam, 11th grade advisor ($559); Rosella Covington, counselor Middle School, 10 extra days ($3,498); Sheila Darnold, Middle School athletic director ($2,146); George Davis, Keller bus maintenance ($7,000); Carrie Derr, Middle School ASB advisor ($1,620); Carrie Derr, Middle School tech support ($750); Sue Hinton, Title 7 coordinator ($2,500); Sandy Hood, Middle School annual advisor ($1,000); Steve Hood, prep, cleanup time ($830); Cathy Huston, Title 1 coordinator, 10 extra days ($3,498); Cathy Huston, special education coordinator, 10 extra days ($3,498); Lee Largent, prep and cleanup time ($1,000); Melissa Marin, 10th grade advisor ($559); Shayla Picard, Center School tech advisor ($750); Kathy Proctor, prep and cleanup ($1,000); Kathy Proctor, vocational director ($1,500); Kathy Proctor, Independent study project coordinator ($6,000); Kathy Proctor, high school annual advisor ($1,000); Derek Pulsifer, band & chorus at the Middle School and high school ($5,300); Ralph Rise, high school tech support ($750); Mary Schilling, grant coordinator ($5,000); Kim Stanger, Native American advisor ($559); Mandi Strocsher, enrollment, P210, CEDARS, food service, employee safety ($1,500); Mandi Strocsher, S-275, assist personnel, budget, local receipts and revenue ($1,000); Karrie Utz, 12th grade advisor ($559); and Debbie VanGeystel, high school ASB advisor ($3,400) for a total of $63,894.
