A Lake Roosevelt High School athlete competed in last weekend’s all-district baseball game in East Wenatchee — against his regular coach.

Kramer Carlson, who recently finished his baseball career at Lake Roosevelt with a trip to the state 2B playoffs, along with being named Co-MVP for the Central Washington 2B North, was selected for last weekend’s All District 6 Senior game. The best seniors from all classifications came together at Eastmont High School for a single nine-inning game.

Carlson started at third base, and as the game went on, played second, catcher, and finally took the mound to close the game. Carlson did not record a hit during the game. His head coach on his Raider team, Brandon Byers, was also a part of the game, but as the coach for the other squad.

“Probably the funniest part of the game was that Kramer and I were placed on separate teams, which made for some good joshing,” Byers said.

The game ended in a 4-all tie.

Coach Byers said he hopes to continue being a part of the all star action in the future.

“I know, for myself as a coach, it was great to be part of a game where not only all the players are high-caliber baseball players, but they're also all high-character athletes that go about doing everything the right way,” he commented. “It was a fun experience for both Kramer and I, and I fully expect to see Lake Roosevelt represented in the coming years at this game.”
