Memorial bull riding event a success
The Cleatis Lacy Memorial Bull Riding event Sunday, a first for the Colorama Pro-West Rodeo, attracted 27 riders and was an outstanding success, officials stated.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the arena as announcer Bob Garrett gave a eulogy for Lacy, and as a riderless horse with boots turned backwards in the stirrups entered and circled the ring.
Lacy, a longtime resident of Grand Coulee, and a rodeo contestant of fame himself, and in later life a rodeo volunteer, was well known in rodeo circles throughout the western states.
His name on the special bull riding day attracted a good field of contestants.
Winning the event was Tanner Bradley of Goldendale who picked up a purse of $1,370. A Stratford rider, Colby Reily, won 2nd and a purse of $1,078. Third-place winner was Cody Casper, who picked up $685, and Dalton Davis took fourth and $343.
