Raider baseball sits in a three-way tie atop the Central Washington 2B North going into the last week of play. The series was supposed to be against Oroville, but Oroville had players with off-the-field issues and was forced to cancel the series.

Luckily, Almira-Coulee-Hartline was available to play a doubleheader last Tuesday at Greene Field.

The Raiders won both games by close margins.

The Warriors were right there with LR through both games, losing the first by a score of 2-1 and dropping the second by only 3 runs, 4-1.

Head Coach Brandon Byers looks at the good close game experience gained in the doubleheader as an asset going into post-season play.

“Overall we are playing defensively sound and it was good to play in some tight games prior to districts to get prepared,” he said.

With the three-way tie for first left unresolved last week, LR was left to the mercy of the tie breaking draw for seeds. Here the Raiders luck ran out as they drew the number-three seed.

This means the first game for the Raiders was last night at 3 p.m. at Eastmont High School in East Wenatchee. If the Raiders won that game then they had to play Liberty Bell a half hour after the conculsion of the first game to decide which game they will play in on Friday. The 3 p.m. loser-out game, or the 5:30 District 6 championship game.
