Earth Day in Electric City had some popular events

Electric City had its second annual Earth Day last Saturday.

Popular among the activities was the Brashears Belgian Horse cart rides that traveled up and down Sunny Drive for about three hours.

Electric City’s Volunteer Fire Department took kids on rides and provided them with bags of goodies.

Grant County Health District gave 25 free bike helmets to kids during a bike safety program.

Promised Land Hobby and Gift Shop brought a “bummer” lamb for children to pet and bottle feed. A demonstration of how wool from sheep can be spun into yarn was held.

Several people brought recyclable objects as part of the Earth Day education effort.

In sidewalk art competition the following winners were announced:

5 years and under - McKenna Miley (lst); Austin Frederickson (2nd); and Connor Reichlin (3rd). 6 years to 9 - Hunter Moulton (1st); Ally Fredicksen (2nd); and Milayla Harris (3rd). 10 years to 15 years - Chelan Bullett (1st); Logan Braaten (2nd); and Makayla Miley (3rd). 16 years and older - Howard Bullett (1st).

Winners will receive “Coulee Bucks” that can be spent at local participating merchants and gift certificates from local firms.
