Raider golf cancelled Thursday’s match out of respect for Rickey Louie-Burris, a sophomore at Lake Roosevelt High School who died in a car wreck Wednesday night.

Head coach Steve Files does not believe that the match will be made up this season.

Raider golf moved forward on Monday with a match in Moses Lake at the Moses Pointe Golf Course against Riverside Christian, Columbia Basin Secondary, and Moses Lake Christian.

The boys showed improvement and are gaining strengh in their game, Files said.

Drew Desautel led the boys with an 18-hole score of 100.

"Drew is getting stronger as the season progresses just like last year when he played his best golf at the district tourney.” Files said.

Coach Files was also impressed with the quality of play from Brandon Desautel.

The sophomore, the coach said, “has been a pleasant surprise. He is not new to the game, but this is his first season on the team. Brandon has great enthusiasm for the game and has really caught “the fever” for golf. He is competitive and focused, yet respectful of the game and his opponents. Brandon is a great teammate and we are lucky to have him out for Raider golf this season."

Full results were not available to the teams as several groups had to cut short their matches due to darkness. The Raiders will return to the links tomorrow at Alta Lake Golf Course where they will be taking on Omak, Oroville, Waterville, and Okanogan for a 2:30 p.m. match.
