LR out-hit Tonasket 23-1 en route to a doubleheader victory over the visiting Tigers last Saturday at Greene Field.

In the first game, every Raider who came to bat not only got on base, but also scored a run.

"At the plate our hitters did a good job of being patient and not trying to do too much with the pitches,” Raider Head Coach Brandon Byers said of the slugfest. “They showed good bat control and put the ball in play."

Kramer Carlson hit a double and a home run in the first game to contribute 4 runners batted in and 2 runs. He added a triple in the second game.

Justus DeWinkler went two for two at the plate, scoring 4 runs, slugging in one more runner and stealing a base in the first game. DeWinkler also hit a triple in the second game.

Dalton Boutain went 2-3 with a triple and double, driving in two runs for a total of 5 RBIs for the day.

On the mound, Raider pitchers staged an impressive debut as stated by Coach Byers,

"I was really pleased with our pitchers consistently attacking the strike zone,” Byers said. “We really didn’t give up any free passes, and our defense played strong behind them."

In the first game, Brady Black pitched 9 strikeouts and gave up no earned runs for four innings. Justus DeWinkler finished the first game with two strikeouts.

The second game was a continuation of the pitching dominance of the Raiders, with DeWinkler and Carlson teaming up for 10 strikeouts and no earned runs in a one-hit shutout that Byers said may belie the underlying potential of Tonasket.

"Tonasket is a young team that has a good core of athletic kids to build upon,” he said. “They continually played hard as the day went on and will most certainly continue to grow as the season progresses.”

With the shutout of the Tigers, the Raiders head into Saturday's games against Okanogan at Greene Field on an upswing. That doubleheader starts at 11 a.m.
