Grand Coulee Police

11/16 - A deer struck by a vehicle on Grand Coulee Avenue had an injured hind quarter. A man who overheard the collision dragged the deer out of the roadway. The animal appeared to be in shock. Given the circumstances, police felt the most humane thing to do was to shoot the deer and put it out of its misery.

- A driver, pulled over on Continental Heights for having tail lights emanating a white light rather than the legally required red, was cited for the defective tail lights, and for not having proper registration, insurance, or license, as well as for not having a required interlock ignition device.

The truck was missing three wheels and had other damage as well. The driver said she was fine and denied needing medical attention. Police saw signs of intoxication. She said she’d had some wine and had been on her way to a residence near Crown Point. She was told to step out of the vehicle for suspicion of driving under the influence. A state trooper took over the case as it was in their jurisdiction. The Grand Coulee officer left the area.

Eventually the man left the area.

11/20 - A vehicle pulled over on Midway Avenue had mismatched plates. The driver said she was unaware of the mismatch and wanted to buy the vehicle. She had a suspended license and was charged with that as well as for the plates. She was told she wasn’t allowed to drive the vehicle any further.

- Police told two women in The Coulee Wall Variety Store that they were banned from the store. They had been acting suspiciously and were unwanted there, although nothing had been stolen. One of the women became upset, but they went on their way.

- Police took note of a man on Alcan Road known to have a restraining order not allowing him within 1,000 feet of another man’s residence. Police later measured the distance between where he was and the other man’s residence and found it to be well within 1,000 feet. Police didn’t see the man in the area after confirming the details of the restraining order and measuring the distance, but confirmed he is guilty of violating the order.

- Police saw a woman they knew did not have a valid license driving on Alcan Road. - A leather notebook containing an electronic tablet was turned in to city hall and collected by police as a found item.

11/22 - A Grant County deputy told Grand Coulee Police to keep an eye out for  a man whom they had probable cause to arrest for multiple assault charges, and that he may have broken the victim’s arm using a rake and swung an ax at her. Police saw the man the day after being told about him. He was the passenger of a vehicle pulled over on Federal Avenue. He was arrested and taken to jail.

- Police pulled a vehicle over on SR-155 near Spokane Boulevard for having an extremely cracked windshield that would make seeing difficult for the driver. The vehicle also was missing the passenger side mirror. The driver said he was only going to Safeway from Electric City. He was cited for driving with obstructed vision, as well as for having no valid license nor registration. Police told him they had to tow the vehicle because of how inoperable it is. The man was upset but walked away without incident.
