Cary Lou Sherman

Cary Lou Sherman, 79, suddenly passed away February 17, 2023 at Providence Sacred Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. He was born in Chrysler, Alabama to Lou and Lenora Davis Sherman. He married Linda R. Shaffer December 31, 1984 in Moses Lake, Washington.

After a short time in Alabama, Cary came back to Washington working for Emerson Diesel in Seattle, Alaska and Kansas delivering and maintaining locomotive diesel engines. In 1970 he left Seattle, and headed to Eastern Washington to work for U&I Sugar Company in Moses Lake as a welder fabricator. Life took on many twists and turns and ultimately he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Cary, Linda and daughter Autumn left Moses Lake and moved to Coulee Dam, Washington along the Columbia River. This area provided a fishing, hunting and recreational paradise for many years until health prevented further active enjoyment. Wonderful memories and lots of good laughs with family and friends. Of course, can't forget his love of Elvis along with good old original country music.

In 1984 they took the RV 8300 miles from Moses Lake all through the country southern California, over to Florida, up to Graceland and back home. After an entire summer on the road, lifetime memories being made, and visiting relatives along the way, it was back to school for Autumn one week later.

The happiest years of great love held treasured times known as Hon, Dad, Pop, Papa, Grandpa and Uncle Cary. All the kids' best memories fishing with Papa, catching their first fish, whether by skill or luck as he would say, honors of sitting on the 5 gallon bucket and then the big surprise carrying or dragging their fish into Gram's kitchen. Papa was well known getting into as much trouble with his shenanigans right along with his giggling grandkids.

It was well known the Sherman house was all sports year round from his beloved baseball especially the Atlanta Braves and Seattle Mariners to football, basketball playoffs, golf and even curling.

He is survived by his wife, Linda that he always called "mom"; daughters: Autumn Rose Ross (Rob) of Snohomish, WA and Lisa Burd (Deanna) of Camano Island, WA; six grandchildren: Scott Wintermute (Alisa), Amber Devine (James), Davyd Powell (Sierra), Zoe Powell (Derek), Allison Koczman (Joshua), and Ashlyn Fischer; seven great grandchildren; Lola Wintermute, John Devine, Saylor Powell, Emery Powell and Malea Rowland, Elijah Koczman and Ethel Koczman; three sisters: Lola Ross, Pat Dean (Ronald), Ruby Dean (Larry) and Sarah Edgett; three brothers: Frank Sherman (Betty), Larry Mead and Gary Falkner. Special mention sisters-in-law Susan Ross (John) and Diana Kempken; numerous nieces and nephews along with tons of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers" Ube Sherman, James Sherman and Rob Edgett; two sisters: Mary Francis Howard and Sara Falkner.

Cremation was handled by Pacific Northwest Crematory and Funeral in Spokane Valley, WA. Private family services will be held at Spring Canyon Cemetery at a later date.
