Volleyball drops two as district play approaches

Lady Raider volleyball lost to Tonasket then Brewster this past week, losing their team captain to an injury in the process.

In Tonasket on Oct. 19, LR lost three sets to one to the Lady Tigers.

In Coulee Dam on Oct. 21, LR lost 3-0 to the Brewster Lady Bears.

Team captain Sean Garvin suffered a complete tear of her ACL, a ligament in the knee, in the first set against Brewster, her mother and coach, Kasey Garvin, said later.

The coach was unable to provide further statistics on the games.

The 5-2 Lady Raiders played Soap Lake yesterday, results of which will be printed in next week's Star.

From there, LR moves on to district play in Wenatchee on Thursday, Oct. 26, with a time still to be decided based on team rankings from Tuesday's results.

LR, with a win-loss record of 5-2, is behind only Tonasket and Brewster (both 7-0) in the Central Washington 2B league.

Update: The Lady Raiders compete against Kittitas thursday night at 6 p.m. at Wenatchee High School in Wenatchee.
