extend
police contract
Grand Coulee’s city council instructed Mayor Chris Christopherson last Tuesday to sign an extension of the city’s agreement to provide law enforcement services to the Bureau of Reclamation. It is the second year in a five-year contract in the amount of $567,690.96.
City to pay
park district
The council at Grand Coulee voted to contract with Coulee Area Parks and Recreation District for maintaining North Dam Park as a tourism facility. The city agrees to provide $7,000 to the district for 2016 out of the city’s hotel/motel tourism tax money. The agreement for next year is the same as this year.
Fire help

There will be a fire recovery assistance information meeting at the Nespelem School at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday (tonight) Sept. 9. The USDA, as well as a number of state and federal agencies, will also be represented at the meeting and programs available for livestock and housing will be discussed.
Mayors to meet
The Regional Board of Mayors will hold their September meeting, Monday, Sept. 14, beginning at 4 p.m. The mayors of the four towns and cities in the area will meet at the Electric City city hall’s council chambers.
To celebrate new courts — play!
All Lake Roosevelt High School alumni, current LRHS tennis players and community members are invited to help celebrate the new high school tennis courts. Mark your calendars for these three Saturday dates: Sept. 12, at 9 a.m. at the tennis courts for an opportunity to play; Sept. 26, at 9 a.m. for a doubles tournament; and Oct. 3, at 9 a.m. for a singles tournament.
