The Grand Coulee Public Library is hosting an Early Literacy Fair to promote early literacy skills to parents of pre-kindergarten age children.

The fun, free event, takes place at the library on Tuesday, October 7 from 5:30 - 7pm. The literacy fair is most ideal for children ages 5 and younger.

It will be entertaining and educational as children move to different stations and activities set up for the event, each with a different objective.

Language Development, Book Knowledge and Appreciation, Phonological Awareness, Print Awareness, and Alphabet Recognition as well as a free book give away are a few of activities that will be shared.

There will also be an early childhood vision screening. This rough screening will help identify those kids who may have obvious signs of visions problems. The earlier a diagnosis is made the sooner early childhood vision problems can be treated. Nicolas Donaghey, O. D. ,the optometrist at Gillespie Eye Care will do the screenings.

Come visit the library for a snack and stay for a lot of fun with literacy skills and stories.
